GRP and Fibreglass Components for Marine and Naval Applications

Henleycraft has been manufacturing GRP and fibreglass components for the marine sector from its Portsmouth facility since 1960. Our location on the south coast has made marine one of our longest-standing areas of work, with customers including Avon, Westerly Yachts, the Royal Navy and Raytheon. Among our most notable projects is the GRP replica anchor manufactured for HMS Warrior, the historic Victorian warship permanently berthed in Portsmouth Harbour.

The range of marine components and vessels we have produced is extensive. Craft include rigid inflatables, rowboats, tenders and Dorys. Vessel components include biminis, binnacles, jockey seats, helm seats, bespoke yacht furniture, shower and sink units and flag stowage lockers. We also manufacture marina service pedestals, pier tower caps, buoys and buoy components, outboard engine test water tanks and replica model boats. Our marine work extends to defence applications, with projects completed for the Royal Navy and Raytheon.

All marine components are available with UV-resistant gelcoats for exterior and deck applications, and osmosis-resistant laminates for below-waterline use. Parts can be supplied in matched gelcoat colours and finishes to suit vessel liveries, with hardware and fittings bonded or installed before despatch. Where weight is a consideration, GRP offers a significant advantage over traditional marine materials such as wood and steel. Fire-retardant laminates are available for commercial and naval vessel applications, and EMF-shielding composites for covers and housings containing sensitive electronics.

For new projects we can work from customer drawings or an early-stage concept, producing patterns in our dedicated pattern shop by hand crafting, CNC routing or 3D printing. Customers can review and approve a prototype before committing to production. For established products we provide reliable ongoing supply.
