GRP and Fibreglass Components for Automotive and Commercial Vehicles

Henleycraft has been manufacturing GRP and fibreglass components for the automotive, commercial vehicle and motorsport sectors from its Portsmouth facility since 1960. Over that time we have supplied major manufacturers including JCB, Ford, Lansing Linde, Ransomes and Scarab Sweepers with a wide range of body panels, covers, linings and structural components.

The range of vehicle types and applications we work across is extensive. Exterior components include cab roofs for agricultural vehicles, fire engines, forklift trucks, golf buggies and aircraft tow trucks, along with front and rear body panels, wheel arches, van high tops, coach bumpers, hatchback rear doors, tractor bonnets, steps, luggage racks and light housings. Interior components include van linings for both general and refrigerated applications, dashboards, bulkhead covers and digger interior panels. We also produce mechanical covers and enclosures: engine covers for articulated dump trucks and diggers, radiator shrouds, ventilation ducts, forklift battery covers, headlamp housings, ground power unit covers for military and commercial aircraft support vehicles, and lawn mower covers.

In motorsport, our work includes full one-piece GRP body shells for single-seater kit cars and bespoke fairing and seat kits for motorcycles.

Components are manufactured to close dimensional tolerances for direct fit to the vehicle frame. All parts are available in matched gelcoat colours to suit vehicle liveries, removing the need for painting on receipt. Where required, hardware such as hinges, brackets and fixings can be bonded or fitted before despatch. We offer UV-resistant gelcoats for exterior applications, fire-retardant laminates for emergency service vehicle work, and EMF-shielding composites for covers housing sensitive electronics. GRP is also significantly lighter than equivalent steel panels, which makes it a practical choice for cab roofs, bonnets and body panels where weight is a consideration.

For new vehicle programmes, we can work from a customer CAD file or an early-stage concept. Patterns are produced in our dedicated pattern shop using hand crafting, CNC routing or 3D printing. Customers can review and approve a prototype before committing to full production. For vehicles already in production, we provide reliable ongoing supply.
